"Glass Front Gallery" to showcase Local Art on the Streets of Downtown West Palm Beach

‘GLASS FRONT GALLERY’ TO SHOWCASE LOCAL ART ON THE STREETS OF DOWNTOWN WEST PALM BEACH

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 21, 2012) Both aspiring and accomplished artists now have creative space to showcase their work in Downtown West Palm Beach. The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Cultural Council of Palm Beach County (CCPBC) have partnered to create the Glass Front Gallery, a Downtown West Palm Beach “collective” that will display artwork from local individuals and groups within designated storefront windows throughout the Clematis District.
“The murals painted by Eduardo Mendieta have been such a huge hit with both locals and visitors that we want to give other up-and-coming artists the chance to share their work within our district,” said Belen Woods, marketing coordinator for the DDA. “This free, public art forum is a nice extension of the other cultural offerings that have come Downtown the past few months, from Kenneth Plasket Gallery and Palm Beach Dramaworks to Lois Brezinski Artworks and Habatat Galleries’ new coffee shop.”
The DDA and CCPBC are looking for artwork to showcase in a variety of media, such as two-dimensional visual art, sculpture and installations. Each window “gallery” space is available thanks to the generosity of Downtown West Palm Beach property owners, so there is no entry fee or rental fee to the artists. A team of representatives from the DDA, CCPBC and the City of West Palm Beach’s Cultural Affairs committee will review the submissions and collectively choose the final artwork that will be on display. Do you have any photos? I would love to see the display in case I can't make it down there! How long is it up for?
