Solder Sculpting - Week 3!

Make it & Take it Classes

 McMow features several "Make it & Take it" classes throughout the year.  What is a "Make it & Take it" class, you ask? It's a class that focuses on smaller projects that you are able to start and finish within one class period.  On August 18^th, we held a Make it & Take it class featuring stained glass sun catchers.  The students had a lot of fun mixing glass nuggets, colorful glass and even shells into their sun catchers!  All materials are provided in these classes and they are very affordable! We like to feature holiday themed Make it & Take it classes, allowing you to decorate your homes with your new handmade goodies or even give them as gifts!  Visit www.mcmow.com and see what upcoming Make it & Take it classes we have on our schedule!  And as always, if you have a class idea you would like to share with us so that we may teach it- please do so!

Gina Rhodes, a student at McMow, became hooked on glass ever since taking Beginner’s Stained Glass with us this past Spring.  She has since signed up for and taken Beginner’s Mosaic, Intermediate Mosaic, Beginning Torch work and the Mixed Media class where she could learn a new medium- fusing!  She was able to take the knowledge she learned in her stained glass classes and create a beautiful stained glass piece featuring fused elements! We are so proud of Gina and all the beautiful pieces she has created with us! Students like her make teaching art glass so much fun!  Check out her beautiful work!

 In the past few weeks McMow has been very busy! We were pleased to be able to give a tour of our studio and teach a group of Foreign Exchange Students from Spain the art of stained glass.  We also taught a group of children ages 6-13 all about the fusing process where they even got to create masterpieces of their own to take home with them!  Most recently, we visited the Breakers and gave a 3 hour private fusing class to 40 adults with the Darden Group who were in town for a conference.  Nothing pleases us more than being able to share our knowledge of the glass arts with our community!  If you are interested in finding out more about a tour of the  McMow studio or a private class, please call Taylor at 561.585.9011x108. 

Direct Method Mosaic Class Starts This Staurday March 19th

This 2-part class is the perfect way to have fun with mosaics! In this fabulous hands on class, wou will learn the basics in mosaic application that you canuse in many other future projects.

McMow will supply a choice of designs OR you can free-form your own design and take home the entire completed project - A beautiful and functional mosaic vase, handmade by YOU!

Come and have some fun with us - Saturday March 19th from 9am-3pm (part 1) and Saturday, March 26th from 9am - 12 pm (part 2).

The cost of the class is $95 and includes all materials -glass, glue, glass vase and grout. Students are welcome to bring their own vase or piece to mosaic. Students should bring their own glass cutters or nippers, and wear closed toe shoes.
